Maher Shalal Hash Baz is the manpower low-budget eloctronica band system. The name is taken from the Book of Isaiah, and translates as “Quick Spoil, Speedy Booty” according to jersalem bible.
Tori Kudo has been cagey about details of his conversion(s). He also works as a potter in Tobe ware which is holding an exhibition at 3Bedfordbury Gallerly, Covent Garden from 18 to 30 Nov 2009.
He has been doing solo improvisation while he and Reiko Kudo released an album called Emperor under the name "Noise".
The impetus for Maher Shalal Hash Baz came when Tori met euphonium player Hiroo Nakazaki on a building site, and found that they shared an interest in the music of Mayo Thompson and Syd Barrett, though the lineup has always been fluid. Reiko has not ever been a fomal member of the band.
After 2 cassette albums on D's label, Org label released Maher Goes To Gothic Country (1991) and the 83-track box set Return Visit To Rock Mass (1996).
Recently they released 2 albums from K records: L'autre Cap(2007) and C'est La Dernière Chanson(2009)
Tonight Tori Kudo will be performing solo. And supported by his son Namio Kudo and Bristol basedThe Balky Mule.
