RICHARD YOUNGS / NEIL CAMPBELL / JOHN CLYDE-EVANS
An exclusive collaboration by three stalwarts of the UK’s DIY experimental scene. Richard Youngs is a solo artist mostly known for a vast and diverse back catalogue on labels such as Jagjaguar and VHF, and has collaborated with many artists including Kawabata Makoto (Acid Mothers Temple), Jandek, Alex Neilson, Damon Krukowski (Damon & Naiomi / Galexie 500) and many more. Neil Campbell is the force behind Astral Social Club and one of the finest purveyors of ecstatic noise having been involved with groups such as The A Band, Sunroof! and Vibracathedral Orchestra. John Clyde-Evans was a member of well-known lo-fi band Hood at a young age, before branching out into his own (more experimental) material and many collaborations under his Sikh name Tirath Singh Nirmala. This collaboration is to celebrate the release of a new Richard Youngs lp “Rurtain” on Alter, which features remixes by Neil Campbell and John Clyde-Evans.
TOMUTONTTU
Tomutonttu is a creature who looks after all the dust. Jan Anderzen is a Tampere
based artist who rearranges images and sounds and makes the music of Tomutonttu
audible. Read streams, mutilated voices, groovy animal noises and records other
people have made are some of the ingredients Anderzen uses to mold his ecstatic
music. Someone described it like this: a confusing close-up of music, a microcosmos
of strange sound events and dirt flying around in stereo space, interacting with a
logic all of their own. Jan Anderzen is also the leader of the band Kemialliset
Ystävät and one of the most recognized Finnish experimental music makers. He's
actively performing around the world and his discography is a labyrinth reflecting
the nature of his art.
ÉLG
Élg is the stage name for French born / Belgian based, artist Laurent Gerard. Since 2000 él-g has performing in venues across Europe and the USA whilst building a complex body of work which has, at points, made explicit references to pop music, abstract collage, dreamy psychedelia and stand up comedy. 2008 saw the release of his debut LP "Tout Ploie" on Kraak and SS Records. The record was the result of Laurent's many years of playing guitar, organ and other string based instruments, showcasing an abstract approach to conventional songwriting and composition. In 2012 we find Élg opening up the same hypnotic and dreamy spirals found on "Tout Ploie", but this time through the use of synthesisers, drum machines and other electronic devices. His new album “Mil Pluton” is out on Alter and Hundebiss in September.
