The Demystification Committee and SKY H1 present a hybrid screening of the Demystification Committee’s debut short film INTERFACE CHAOS, featuring a live version of the film’s soundtrack composed by SKY H1 and performed by the artist on the night.
INTERFACE CHAOS LIVE opens with a live set from SKY H1, whose atmospheric, monastic compositions will set the mood for an improvised version of the film’s soundtrack, flowing over its translucent imagery.
"There's no script, just an act."
INTERFACE CHAOS explores nonhuman searches for survival through the stories of two entities coexisting in the archipelago of the Seychelles: money and a unique species of palm tree. In a world free of human activity each faces uncertainty in their particular way.
As the palm trees let go of security, becoming free to mark the archipelago with their mysterious fruit, money guards itself, leaving as few signs behind as possible. Of its vast, silent network, all that remains is dust and the hollow husk of past dealings.
The Demystification Committee studies the intensities of late capitalism. Established in 2016, it is chaired from London and Berlin.
The Demystification Committee recently exhibited as part of the Porto Design Biennale (PT), the 4th Istanbul Design Biennale (TR), transmediale face value (DE) and at Fotomuseum Winterthur (CH). In 2019 its film work was screened as part of Hyperdub's monthly party Ø at Corsica Studios (UK), AntiUniversity Now (UK) and at Trust Berlin (DE).
In 2019 the German label Mille Plateaux released ‘Flash Demons’, a collection of the artists’ sound performances exploring pressure and accidents on the global financial network. Recent performances were held at the Design Museum (UK), Spektrum (DE) and Onassis Cultural Centre (GR).
The Demystification Committee was the recipient of the 2017 Vilém Flusser Residency Program for Artistic Research in association with transmediale.
The Belgian producer SKY H1 debuted on Berlin's Creamcake Label in 2015, and soon after signed to PAN's sublabel, Codes, releasing the widely acclaimed 'Motion' EP.
The following year saw SKY H1 appear on PAN's 'Mono No Aware' compilation, which was trailed by remix work for HELM, and Soho Rezanejad.
Her ethereal performances have seen her programmed widely across Europe, and she has made a number of appearances in the US, Canada, Japan, China and Russia. Notable performances include CTM festival, Unsound, New Forms Festival, Centre Pompidou, Todays Art and Atonal.
tIncreasingly, SKY H1 has been performing in more versatile settings such as galleries and modular art spaces, and occasionally in collaboration with visual artists.
