Oto Nove Swiss is a three-day festival at London’s Cafe Oto. Teamed up in pairs per evening six Swiss institutions—namely Bad Bonn, Südpol Luzern, zweikommasieben Magazin, Präsens Editionen, OOR and Klappfon—invite different musicians and/or bands from Switzerland, the UK and beyond. The common denominator of the institutions involved? All of them deal with contemporary (experimental) music in one way or another—whether as a venue, record store, magazine, event series or label.

zweikommasieben is a Swiss magazine that has been devoted to the documentation of contemporary club- and sound landscapes since the summer of 2011. The magazine features artist interviews, essays and columns as well as photography, illustration and graphics. In addition zweikommasieben organizes concerts, parties, club nights, matinees, raves and other fun events in various cities.
Präsens Editionen was founded in 2011 to give home to zweikommasieben Magazin. Ever since a variety of magazines, books, zines, records, tapes and oddities has been published. Präsens Editionen is interested in projects that either are exploratory in its setup and/or are questioning and crossing borders.
Russell Haswell is a restlessly forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary artist, performer and curator. With a background steeped in computer music, black metal, noise, techno and solo improvisation, his practice is renowned for broaching the extremities of visual and sonic arts. He’s performed in noted live and HDJ [hard disc jockey] actions with Aphex Twin, Gescom, Pan Sonic and Masami Akita (Merzbow), among others, and worked with Florian Hecker on Iannis Xenakis’ UPIC system in their Haswell & Hecker duo, whoseBlackest Ever Black LP is widely considered a milestone of modern electronic music composition—and zweikommasieben Magazin has been a fan ever since.
Zurich-born and Berlin-based Gil Schneider combines sensibilities gathered during his studies in contemporary composition with influences from current club music. The result conforms toKlangfarben-melodies and dembow beats alike and gained him ties to Stockholm’s Staycore collective and Brooklyn-based Mixpak. Nonetheless, his official debut EPOrchids & Waspswas released on Swiss label Danse Noire, with which zweikommasieben Magazin collaborates on a frequent basis.
Lucerne’s Martina Lussi feels home in the intersection between fine arts, music and performance. Within her work she challenges dichotomies such as conscious/unconscious, power/powerlessness and inside/outside. On top, the body of the spectator always plays an essential role in her pieces. Martina has presented her work in various art spaces and in clubs throughout Switzerland and her debut 12”Komposition O08was released through Präsens Editionen in 2014.
Mr.Peña is a producer, DJ and promoter from Basel with ties to the local collectives Acc-Ess and Klappfon. Key to his work are different varieties of rave music. This said, he knows absolutely no reservations neither with pop nor with noise and blends everything into his hardcore dance mixes. With an upcoming release on Präsens Editonen Peña is the perfect match to finish the second night of Oto Nove Swiss.
Depending on the event and the resources at hand different members of zweikommasieben Magazin team up or go solo to play DJ sets—equally in clubs, art spaces, and on air. As within their journalistic practice the outer edges of club culture are at the centre of their DJ activity.
