UP-TIGHT + GUO

No Longer Available

UP-TIGHT are a noxious trio from Tokyo with history dating back to 1992, all acolytes of the legendary Japanese psych group Les Rallizes Denudes, who augment their sound with crushing, Sabbath-styled dynamics, earsplitting acid leads and beautiful Velvets-inspired ballads.

Tomoyuki Aoki / voice & guitar
Takashi Ogata / bass
Takashi Shirahata / drums

“If you can picture Spacemen 3 circa The Perfect Prescription produced by Ghost circa Temple Stone then you’re close to the outrageous levels of psychedelic excess captured here. Tomoyuki’s guitar tone has to be heard to be believed, with tactile garage punk crunch put to the service of endlessly euphoric orbits of three droning chords. Up-Tight have been responsible for a buncha the most memorable releases to come out of the post-PSF underground but this has to be their recorded pinnacle, the perfect balance of two chord Velvet downers and strung-out post-Rallizes string violence.” – Volcanic Tongue on The Night Is Yours

GUO

guo

'Glorious slabs of noise’ - Victor Schonfield

‘Untamed beauty’ - Walton Ford

GUO is the duo of guitarist and singer Daniel Blumberg (Hebronix, The Howling Hex) and saxophonist Seymour Wright. Both use heavy distortion and extreme amplification which is later processed and manipulated with metal cassettes to create a multi-layered, lacquered object of sinister, fizzing, metallic beauty. GUO1 with text by David Toop, was the beginning of an on-going series of releases that include etchings made by the duo and a piece of ekphrasis from a creative writer responding to the music. This show will coincide with release of GUO2 on OTOroku with text from the American filmmaker Brady Corbet.
