Eugene Chadbourne (solo) + Eugene Chadbourne / Andrew Cheetham (duo)

No Longer Available

Eugene Chadbourne - eclectic and unconventional improvisor/guitarist/banjo player - returns to Cafe OTO for another evening of music and song, drawing on a range of forms - from free jazz, country and blue grass and all out noise. His idiosyncratic and uncompromising approach to music has made him a living legend. Eugene will perform solo before a very special duo set with drummer, Andrew Cheetham.

“Chadbourne is a great songwriter and a true banjo virtuoso. His inclination to experimentation draws on his love of traditional country and bluegrass. The way he can scoop up techniques and then have them resurface in unexpected guises is part of what made his performance so engaging.” - London Jazz News

Eugene Chadbourne

Starting out playing rock and roll guitar, Chadbourne quickly grew bored with the form's conventions, going on to study the blues, country, bluegrass, free jazz, and noise before synthesizing those heterogeneous influences into a unique style of his own.

“one of the underground community's most well-known and well-regarded eccentrics.” All Music Guide

Chadbourne fronted Shockabilly (1982–1985) with Mark Kramer (bass/organ) and David Licht (drums) and has worked with numerous artists including John Zorn, Fred Frith, Derek Bailey, Han Bennink, Carla Bley Band, Paul Lovens, Toshinori Kondo, Kommissar Hjuler und Frau, Camper Van Beethoven, Jello Biafra, Turbonegro, They Might Be Giants, Sun City Girls, Violent Femmes, Aki Takase, Walter Daniels, Kevin Blechdom, Biff Blumfumgagnge, Zu and Jimmy Carl Black.
