John Bisset is a musician and visual artist based in London. His work ranges between free improvisation and composition including songmaking/singing. He is currently improvising on the lapsteel guitar, using preparations and moving in an increasingly abstract sound world.
John has worked with Jim Finer in various contexts including the London Electric Guitar Orchestra, pushing the guitar to the limits of extended technique. When they both shifted sideways to new instruments it seemed inevitable that they should combine forces. For this debut outing they are joined by two inventive and keenly attuned players – Hywel Jones and Luigi Marino. Other projects have included duos with Alex Ward, Burkhard Beins and ivor Kallin.
John also collaborates regularly with George Garford both musically and as curators of The Pool. In the past, he curated the legendary 2.13 club.
Recent music includes the release, in October 2022, of O||o an album of solo lapsteel improvisations.
