Tamara Al-Mashouk is an artist. Through multi-channel video and architectural installation, her work explores the movement of people across societal and geographic borders. It negotiates the relationship between home, identity and memory and expands the study of epigenetics beyond the body into place and matter. Her work asks the questions: how does the mediated image normalize violence, who’s voice is privileged with amplification, and how can we hack them to establish empathy?
