Oto Nove Swiss: Russell Haswell + Gil + Martina Lussi + Mr.Peña + zweikommasieben DJs

No Longer Available

Presented by: zweikommasieben Magazin & Präsens Editionen

Oto Nove Swiss is a three-day festival at London’s Cafe Oto. Teamed up in pairs per evening six Swiss institutions—namely Bad Bonn, Südpol Luzern, zweikommasieben Magazin, Präsens Editionen, OOR and Klappfon—invite different musicians and/or bands from Switzerland, the UK and beyond. The common denominator of the institutions involved? All of them deal with contemporary (experimental) music in one way or another—whether as a venue, record store, magazine, event series or label.

Russell Haswell, (UK; Editions Mego, Downwards, Diagonal) live

Russell Haswell is a restlessly forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary artist, performer and curator. With a background steeped in computer music, black metal, noise, techno and solo improvisation, his practice is renowned for broaching the extremities of visual and sonic arts. He’s performed in noted live and HDJ [hard disc jockey] actions with Aphex Twin, Gescom, Pan Sonic and Masami Akita (Merzbow), among others, and worked with Florian Hecker on Iannis Xenakis’ UPIC system in their Haswell & Hecker duo, whoseBlackest Ever Black LP is widely considered a milestone of modern electronic music composition—and zweikommasieben Magazin has been a fan ever since.

Martina has presented her work in various art spaces and in clubs throughout Switzerland and her debut 12”Komposition O08was released through Präsens Editionen in 2014.

zweikommasieben , DJ (CH)

Depending on the event and the resources at hand different members of zweikommasieben Magazin team up or go solo to play DJ sets—equally in clubs, art spaces, and on air. As within their journalistic practice the outer edges of club culture are at the centre of their DJ activity.
