Best known as a member of Sonic Youth, but with a keen interest in and knowledge of free improvisation, modernist composition, the 20th century avant-garde, noise, and much much more, Thurston Moore needs no introduction. Tonight, a prolific and restless twenty one years since his first improvised concert in the UK at the invitation of Resonance FM's Ed Baxter - as part of the legendary LMC Festival of Experimental Music where he performed with The Boredoms' Yamatsuka Eye and original "riot girl" Niki Eliot - Thurston Moore will perform in an improv setting with surprise guests of his choice.

Jennifer Walshe was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1974. “Without a doubt, hers is the most original compositional voice to emerge in Ireland in the last 20 years” is the entirely accurate description given by Michael Dervan of The Irish Times. Since 2007 Walshe has notably developed Grúpat, a project in which she has assumed twelve different alter egos - all members of an imaginary art collective - and created compositions, installations, graphic scores, films, photography, sculptures and fashion under these alter egos. In January 2015 she launches in Dublin "Historical Documents of the Irish Avant-Garde," a book detailing forgotten Donegal Futurists, "Guinness" Dadaists and more in the same vein. But perhaps her best known work to date is the opera "XXX_LIVE_NUDE_GIRLS!!!" whose main characters are played by Barbie dolls. Tonight Jennifer Walshe will present a solo audio work - in the guise of herself.

Formed in 2003 by producers at BBC Radio 3, Langham Research Centre recaptures the spirit of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and like an Early Music group's use of historic instruments, works with vintage equipment to perform 20th century classic electronic repertoire. Langham Research Centre also composes new music using this vintage instrumentarium, regularly writing new work for music festivals, one off concerts, radio braodcasts and art galleries, including collaborations with Peter Blegvad, Catherine Carter and Alwynne Pritchard. For tonight's concert they perform Muffled Cyphers (2014) for tapes, oscillators, amplified objects: commissioned by NyMusikk Oslo, it is inspired by sonic and visual images within JG Ballard’s writings, particularly his still extraordinary The Atrocity Exhibition (1970).

DJs tonight are sound artist Sophie Mallett, best known for her weekly radio show Sonic Blind Dates on Resonance104.4fm and currently featuring in the RadioCity radio-art project at Tate Britain, whose extensive audio, visual and archival work is documented at sophiemallett.com; and Ed Baxter, co-founder of Resonance104.4fm, BASCA Sonic Arts Composer of the Year 2013, and probably the most influential UK new music curator of the last 25 years.
