Ghédalia Tazartès’ music has always been a mystery. It switches from musique concrète to existing or invented ethnic music, from poetry to noise, or from loops and collages to sad and extremely beautiful tunes in a second.
Before playing an improvised soundtrack to the silent horror film 'Häxan' (a documentary on the history of witchcraft), Tazartès chatted to Penultimate Press boss and big fan Mark Harwood about his work and some of the music that has influenced him. There are some cracking clues about where his ideas come from, and some lovely tender moments too.
Thanks to Electra for the film, to our translator Lucia, and to Mark and Ghédalia.
