Laura Cannell's Modern Ritual is a new series of performance events which explore ideas of ritual through music and words, and evokes real and fictional landscapes. On the first night of the series, Cannell invited Charles Hayward to perform in a duet with her, and to perform a solo set based on this idea of 'Modern Ritual'. Also on the bill was Hoofus and his "rustic cadences", while The Quietus / Wire writer Jennifer Allan performed a history of the foghorn in 30 acts (best PhD ever) and The Quietus' co-founder Luke Turner read a new piece on his recent wanderings round Epping Forest.
