As part of their second three-day residency at OTO we were thrilled to host a Q&A with Art Ensemble of Chicago members Roscoe Mitchell, Don Moye, and Hugh Ragin - hosted by journalist and broadcaster, Kevin Le Gendre.
Now into their fifth decade, the Art Ensemble have lost none of the verve or boldness of invention that has characterised them from the start; the impact and influence that they have had cannot be overstated and they remain an utterly essential live experience.
Their rich and detailed dialogue spanned their music and teaching practices, their engagement with contemporary issues and into making jingles for the juice company 'Odwalla'. You can listen to the conversation in full or read the whole interview here.
Huge thanks to members Roscoe Mitchell, Don Moye, and Hugh Ragin, to Kevin Le Gendre, to Fabio Lugaro and Dawid Laskowski for the photos and to Shaun Crook for recording.
