Toulip Wonder is the moniker of Sri Lankan British artist and researcher Cassie Layton. As a performer, she has appeared worldwide at venues such as the Barbican, Cafe OTO, Tate, the London ICA, the Young Vic, the Royal Court, and the Hollywood Bowl. She has also voiced several leading roles in video games, including Lady De Sardet in Greedfall, Ashera in Xenoblade Chronicles III, and Zero in Final Fantasy XIV.
Currently pursuing a PhD in Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music, Layton’s research, Sounds & Silences in the Archives of Empire, positions her as an artist at the National Archives, where she works to decolonise records through sound. Her DIY electronic music practice draws from net and video game art, ambient jazz, new age synthesisers and pop sensibilities. Last year, she released her debut album, Fortune Baby.
