Fantastic triple-bill of transcendent, future-thinking electronic music, including two artists who've put out phenomenal releases on our own TakuRoku label in the past year, in the form of aircode and Nexcyia.
aircode is a Swedish producer based in London whose production is linked by tone rather than genre. Though, heavy dub-rhythm and careful use of space are reoccurring themes mixed with vocals, short occurrences of piano, halfway-club drum patterns and constantly changing dynamics. Following her debut release on TT (fka Tobago Tracks) we have seen releases on labels such as Alien Jams, Cafe Oto’s Takuroku and Nostro Hood System.
Nexcyia is an African-American sound artist and experimental ambient musician based in London and Paris. Working with found sound, Nexcyia weaves together harsh sound design and swooping soundscapes into works that bridge many moods, emotions and places through noise, granular synthesis, textures and rhythms. Nexcyia has released a debut EP "Crawl" on Alien Jams and Origin EP on Cafe OTO's in-house label Takuroku.
Ewa Awe (b. Lublin, Poland) is the DJ and performance moniker of Ewa Poniatowska who at the moment explores various forms of sonic-storytelling. She received a Masters from Royal College of Art in London and has performed at the likes of Tate Modern and Beursschouwburg Brussels, with recent exhibitions including Sweetwater Berlin or Casting the Runes in London. In September 2020 she lead 4 sound walks as part of 3HD festival in an outdoor location in London. Her most recent independent release 'Of Perpetual' has been released on USBs, originally made for Casting the Runes Show in collaboration with spatial audio studio Sova Audio.
