CV & JAB (Christina Vantzou & John Also Bennett) + Christina Vantzou (solo) + John Also bennett (solo)

No Longer Available

CV & JAB is the collaboration between Christina Vantzou and John Also Bennett. Their first album, Thoughts of a Dot as it Travels a Surface (Shelter Press, 2018), was the soundtrack for a panoramic wall drawing by Zin Taylor, and mapped musically, in a serene and inventive way, a site-specific visual work. Their second album, Landscape Architecture (Editions Basilic, 2020), found both musicians functioning in perfect understanding and complementarity in various visual and spatial settings, allowing their music to paint colors or lines in the atmosphere, or to fill voids and produce structures of an intense psycho-physicality. Using acoustic instrumentation and an extensive sound genealogy, CV & JAB compose ambient musical auras which reconfigure the tri dimensionality that surrounds us, creating comfort to connect us emotionally.

Christina Vantzou

Christina Vantzou is a Brussels based composer who deals with time expansion, atmospheres and harmonies through electronics and acoustic instruments. Her releases include five numbered solo albums of ambient-classical music on American label Kranky, 2020's Multi-Natural LP; a foray into abstract electronics and field recording released by the Belgian label Edições CN, two albums with John Also Bennett as CV & JAB, and many other solo and collaborative works. In her latest work, Vantzou focuses on shaping ceremonial and affective spaces where voice, synthesizers, piano and electronics vaporously extend from the depths, glow in dreamlore and emerge into the light of day.

John Also Bennett

John Also Bennett is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist who creates music that could be described as atmospheric, avant-garde, or minimalist. His debut solo album Erg Herbe, which used flutes, microtonal synthesis and field recordings, was released on Shelter Press in 2019. His most recent solo work, Out there in the middle of nowhere, adds a custom tuned lap steel guitar and is the result of a year of travel, using simple ingredients to engage with empty spaces, time and resonance on a glacial scale to illuminate a complexity and magic inherent within apparent nothingness. He has collaborated with countless musicians, artists and composers including Jon Gibson, Christina Vantzou, Jefre-Cantu Ledesma, Pauline Anna Strom, Zin Taylor, Peter Burr, and FORMA, among many others.
