'Hit Me' is a new album from Earshots Recordings as well as the beginning of their new Digital Edition. 'Hit Me' is also the first studio recording for a free improvising duo of Daniel Kordik playing a modular synthesiser and James L Malone playing an acoustic guitar.
Kordik works mainly as an improviser, music collaborator, field recordist and a regular member of the duo Jamka and duo with Edward Lucas with whom he co-runs Earshots Recordings. "Kordik’s electronics are pretty weird (...). At least some of them seem to work by Theremin-style hand control, which results in a different type of sound than if he were playing either with a keyboard or a modular-style patch." (Paul Margree)

Lucas is co-organiser (with Daniel Kordik) of the Earshots label - their long running trombone and synth duo led to the beginning of the concert series and label. He has had many associations with improvising musicians in London and beyond, including the duo here with Daniel Thompson - a CD from this duo is expected for release on Inexhaustible Editions later this Summer.
Daniel was born in Norfolk, England. Largely self-taught, he moved to London in 2005 and studied with the guitarist John Russell for two years. Since then, he has performed at many venues and festivals across the UK and Europe. In addition, he has also been organising concerts including the ‘The Shoreditch Church Concert Series' with Benedict Taylor.
Currently you can hear and see Daniel performing solo, with other musicians in many ad-hoc improvising situations and in long-term collaborations or 'working groups'. Recent collaborations include performances and/or recordings with Neil Metcalfe, Steve Noble, Caroline Kraabel, Max Reed, John Edwards, Benedict Taylor, Tom Jackson, Vid Drasler, Evan Parker, Adam Bohman, Sue Lynch, Alex Ward, Kay Grant, Roland Ramanan, Adrian Northover, Marcello Magliocchi, Alan Wilkinson, Colin Webster amongst others.
Daniel is the founder and artistic director of 'Empty Birdcage Records', a label dedicated to releasing documents of free improvisation. emptybirdcagerecords.bandcamp.com
